It has been 3 days since we got back to Maltese soil. As those of you who read the tour diary (found below) will know, this tour was an extremely positive experience for us. Most of the gigs were an extreme success, we played our music to new audiences and swayed them towards us, which is the whole point behind touring. We were also interviewed by Chop and Kerrang! More information about these press appearances shall follow shortly.

We would like to thank these people for making this tour a massive success for us:

  • Everyone from SLAB for their organisation skills, backline, and generosity.
  • Zoe for her infinite patience
  • Dodo for his hospitality and great big heart
  • Spyritus with whom we played with in Leicester
  • MWP with whom we played with in Manchester
  • K.O.Kaine with whom we shared the Snooty stage again in Wakefield
  • Malcolm from the Snooty Fox
  • Morgue Orgy, the mad men from Birmingham who blinded us with their set
  • Tony, the barman from hell in Neath, Wales
  • Johnny Doom from Kerrang!
  • Godsize, most especially Kris who was so good as to visit our gigs on 3 occasions!
  • all the pubs and clubs we played in and their staff, especially sound people and all promoters who made the gigs a success
  • everyone who came to the shows and bounced along to our tunes!

On an unrelated note, Despondent By Design has been getting heard by various key people in the metal music media. It has been featured on rocksins.com at this location and also by Twan from Brutalism in his #44 radio show. Our song Hellfire kicks off that segment of the show.

Loathe was also present at the extraordinary general meeting by UKAM pertaining to PRS and the distribution of royalties, among many other pressing issues. While I would not be so arrogant as to instruct, I do recommend that all musicians from all styles in Malta join UKAM, regularise their position and start applying pressure with radio stations, club owners and their own record labels. We all want to get paid at the end of the day, so everyone’s help will result in everyone’s profit. For further info on how to register and make a difference go here.

We’re now looking forward to our shows with BNI and SLIT this month. Details of the shows may be found in the ‘Live’ section in the menu bar above.
