A boat made entirely of metal. Brütal!

We’re also lucky enough to have footage of almost the entire set on the boat, which we are sharing with you below. All the video was taken by John Gauci, who on the night was given the title of ‘World’s craziest photographer’. Excuse the sound, again, blame John, he likes to move around us on stage, and the minute he gets close to an amp or a cymbal, y’kow, it sort of takes over. Still, the video captures the emotion well. Enjoy, and hope to see as many of you as possible on the 25th of July.

Since we’ve last written in, we played at the Shellshock Metal Festival in March, and launched a brand spanking new venue, Voice of a Generation, in Paceville, with our old buddies BNI. We’ve also written a number of new songs, some of which you will hear when you next see us live.

Which brings us neatly to the next item. We are playing live, on a boat, on the 1st of July 2011. Maltese metal stalwarts SLIT will accompany us on this fishing trip, and we will certainly ensnare a few fish, if not mermaids. The event is being organised by Rookies and Wild Ones and will involve a boat.

We will have many more details to you soon, but for now, put a fish hook through the 1st of July on your calendars.

We also have at least another scheduled appearance this summer, a big one, but we have to keep those under wraps for now. The minute we get the go ahead to tell you all about these events, don’t you worry, we will.

One more thing, our friends Morgue Orgy from Birmingham in the UK have just released a new EP. Check out their video below, and the Loathe t-shirt at the end of it. Awesome song too!

The Pre-Valentine Massacre 7 has come and gone, and as happens every year, we are humbled and grateful for the great turnout and vibe we had.

This year we hit Gozo with our buddies Knockturn Alley, and regardless of late venue changes and other assorted annoyances, we had a great time playing at the Prekursur Band Club in Xewkija. We drank lots, and if you’re in Knockturn Alley, ran up walls.

Three days later we played at the customary Pre-Valentine venue, Remedy. Thrashers Angelcrypt dropped out due to sudden illness, and we wish the dude a speedy recovery.

The gig was great, with non-stop pits and quite a few of the Gozitans from the weekend returned and moshed along! Truly a great atmosphere, and we can’t thank you enough for it.

We carved the letters into the rock for demonstration purposes

Well, that’s going to change as of today month! We have decided to kick 2011 in the nuts very early on!

It is the seventh year running in which we are going to keep our appointment for the Pre Valentine Massacre, but this time, we’ve added another leg to it, a date in Gozo!

The date is the 5th of February, the venue is a cool as hell new club in Rabat called Mirage, across the street from Mc Donalds in Arkadia.

Entrance fee is €6, but get this, if you come to the Gozo gig, you get into the Malta gig 4 days later for free!

That’s right, €6 buys you entrance to both nights!

This is Loathe at the Pre Valentine 6 in 2010. You know not to expect any less.

As is our yearly tradition, we shall be playing with our best buddies Knockturn Alley. We have also recruited DJ Dunk, or Matthew Natoli, the organiser of many metal nights in Gozo to spin some quality tunes for you before we get on stage.

As to the Malta gig, it’s happening at Remedy, and apart from Knockturn Alley, we also have legendary thrash metal band Angelcrypt joining the fray. Price is again €6, or free if you came to the Gozo gig.

We’ll have merchandise available on both nights, although if you want something specific, it may be best to get in touch with the band beforehand and let us know, so as to avoid disappointment.

Surprisingly, we met quite a few metal people there, apart from the other nominees of course. That was awesome, and we proceeded to shout ‘Slayer, Slayer, Slayer’ at random parts of the show. It was very well received by everyone else in the Platinum (or was it Silver) Circle.

We connived our way into the press tent, where we got ‘interviewed’ for live TV, apparently, and almost certainly made an arse of ourselves.

The award for Best Heavy Metal Band went to Nomad Son, whom we warmly congratulate. Nomad Son also scooped up the International Achievement Award. Other Maltese metal bands to scoop up awards were Frenzy Mono for Best CD cover, and Memento Nostri for best website, on www.mementonostri.com.

You may remember that we offered a ticket to anyone who could up with a compelling enough reason for them to be with us at the MMAs. The ticket went to John Gauci. Some of you may be familiar with his work, he’s pretty much taken all the photos you see of us. Why did he get the ticket?

John promised to sneak his lens into the venue and take a photo of Kristina Casolani’s snatch while she was performing  onstage. We couldn’t resist. In the end, we were too far away for any crotch action, so we took this photo instead. Click to enlarge.

The CD or T-Shirt of your choice prize was won by Sharon Mula, who gave us this great answer and warmed our hearts:

Seriously though, it was a great event for us, and hopefully for all the other bands who played there too, Synergy, The Overouts, R.A.S., Memento Nostri, The Lesser Gods and Forsaken. It was also very fitting that the event celebrated both our capital city and rich history, as well as our musical history, since it marked the launch of M3P, the Malta Music Memorial Project, or the Malta Music Wiki. This ongoing project has the ambition of including information about every single piece of music ever recorded, written or sung in Malta, as well as who was behind the music. It’s a huge project, but ambition never killed anyone.

Loathe would also like to thank Toni Sant for compering and helping in the event set up, as well as Joanna Bowman from the MCCA. And last but not least, we would like to thank our guest drummer for the night and best friend Max Vassallo, who already powers two bands (For the Godless and Abysmal Torment), yet found the time to help out with our predicament.

BeastLoathe-A maltese supergroup. I think.

Of course, the sterling journalists of this particular publication beat us to the punch. Before we could even make it public, they broadcast to the world that the band shall now be called Beast Loathe and as of this moment, we shall be playing a style of music known as metal-rock.
