Vote for Loathe in Toni Sant’s MMI poll

Still smarting from losing out in the Malta Music Awards, (not really, we’re happy just to get a mention), we have another opportunity to be top of the game, and this time, you can help us!

Toni Sant’s Mużika Mod Ieħor Podcast is produced weekly by the good man himself, and many metal bands, including Loathe, have been featured in the 236 episodes produced so far.

This year, Loathe are included in the Top Album category, on the basis of our full length CD, Despondent By Design.

To help us out, all you have to do is go to www.tonisant.com/podcasts/mmi2010, connect using your Facebook credentials and vote for Loathe, found on the first screen.

After that, vote for all your other favourite artists, videos and releases of this year. Simple!

Voting is open until Saturday 1 January 2011 and results will be announced on Saturday 8 January 2011.

Thanks Toni and you all who are going to vote for us!

Loathe video of gigs in 2010

We’ve now got a compilation video online on YouTube. It shows a bunch of our best moments during some of the many gigs we played in Malta during 2010. These include the Despondent by Design release gig at the Black Pearl, the Xtreme Metal Assault in Buskett and Notte Bianca 2010, Valletta.

Watch the video below or on YouTube. Share it with your fellow metal heathens to help us out and spread the good metal word!

However, we’re still not done for this year! On the 27th of November we’ll be flying the flag of heavy metal at the Malta Music Awards, where we’ve been nominated for Best Heavy Metal Band, alongside Nomad Son, Memento Nostri and Frenzy Mono.

We also have something else coming up later on in the year, and we’ll let you know more about it later on. It should be awesome!

As awesome as getting kicked in the head in the Loathe pit.

If you can’t get your fill of us, contact us here to buy Despondent by Design on CD, or get a copy of it on iTunes.

Loathe nominated for Best Heavy Metal Award in GO Malta Music Awards 2010

Loathe has been nominated in the Best Heavy Metal Award in the Go Malta Music Awards 2010. The 15th edition of the awards includes categories such as Best Dance Production, Best Female Artist and Best Hip/Hop / R’n'B Artist, all of which we can’t say we’ve really mastered. However, Heavy fuckin’ Metal we can do with the best of them!

loathe go music malta awards

Loathe was nominated on the strength of 2010′s achievements, which included releasing our fist full length opus ‘Despondent by Design’ on UK label Casket Records, playing the London Bridgefest 2010 alongside UK death metal stalwarts Trigger the Bloodshed, and playing for rabid audiences in Malta such as the Xtreme Metal Assault and Notte Bianca 2010.

The GO Malta Music Awards 2010 will be awarded according to scoring by judges and will feature performances by some of Malta’s biggest artists such as Winter Moods, Red Elektrick, Airport Impressions and Chasing Pandora. Foreign artist Anthony Costa from British boy band BLUE will also be performing Blue hits. Loathe will be on the dance floor boogying the night away and looking like this:

Results will be announced on November the 27th 2010.

Thank you Notte Bianca 2010!

It is with extreme gratitude that we thank you all for the amazing show at Notte Bianca 2010, on Saturday 25th September. We had a great gig and it was all thanks to you who turned up, had fun, danced and moshed with us and made sure no trees were broken or uprooted.

Seriously though, it was a great event for us, and hopefully for all the other bands who played there too, Synergy, The Overouts, R.A.S., Memento Nostri, The Lesser Gods and Forsaken. It was also very fitting that the event celebrated both our capital city and rich history, as well as our musical history, since it marked the launch of M3P, the Malta Music Memorial Project, or the Malta Music Wiki. This ongoing project has the ambition of including information about every single piece of music ever recorded, written or sung in Malta, as well as who was behind the music. It’s a huge project, but ambition never killed anyone.

Loathe would also like to thank Toni Sant for compering and helping in the event set up, as well as Joanna Bowman from the MCCA. And last but not least, we would like to thank our guest drummer for the night and best friend Max Vassallo, who already powers two bands (For the Godless and Abysmal Torment), yet found the time to help out with our predicament.

We are still looking for a permanent drummer to join our ranks, so if you’re interested or know someone who’d fit the bill, get in touch on the Contact page.

Meanwhile, here’s a video of us playing a snippet from Hellfire. Apologies for the poor sound quality and a huge thanks to everyone who was in that enormous and savage moshpit! If you have better quality video, or maybe a few good pics, let us know here, and we will love you forever!
